Dylan Mulvaney to Debut One-Woman Show Off-Broadway

Dylan Mulvaney is bringing her one-woman show, The Least Problematic Woman in the World, to off-Broadway this fall. After debuting at Edinburgh Fringe, the bold, funny, and emotional production arrives in New York, offering a deeply personal look at trans visibility, public backlash, and creative resilience.

Dylan Mulvaney, the trans TikTok star known for her humor, authenticity, and creative flair, is set to debut her one-woman show, The Least Problematic Woman in the World, off-Broadway this fall. The show will run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre from September 20 through November 30, with opening night scheduled for October 7.

This off-Broadway run marks a significant moment in transgender visibility in theater. Originally performed at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival under the title Faghag, the show earned strong reviews for its honesty, musicality, and unapologetic storytelling. Mulvaney is already a familiar face to many, especially those who followed her viral “Days of Girlhood” TikTok series and her recent memoir, Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer.

The solo show was written by Mulvaney and is directed by Tim Jackson, who also helmed its Edinburgh debut. It follows her path from childhood in a conservative Catholic household to becoming a visible trans figure in a world often hostile to that visibility. Through original songs, biting comedy, and raw personal narrative, Mulvaney offers a story that is both specific to her experience and deeply relatable to a wider audience.

Mulvaney has said the show reflects a more vulnerable and complex side of herself than what people may have seen on social media. In an interview with PEOPLE, she described the production as more raunchy and darker than her TikTok content, explaining that it gave her a place to work through the intense public scrutiny she faced following the backlash over her 2023 Bud Light brand partnership.

That backlash, which became a flashpoint in America’s ongoing culture war, led to boycotts, public harassment, and targeted threats. Rather than retreating, Mulvaney used the experience to create something new and powerful. She began writing the show as a personal outlet and a way to reclaim her voice, particularly at a time when traditional casting doors felt closed.

Director Tim Jackson praised Mulvaney’s creative energy and resilience, calling the show “a love letter to self-acceptance” and a space for catharsis, laughter, and healing. The choice of the Lucille Lortel Theatre, a smaller, more intimate venue, adds to the sense of connection between performer and audience.

For transgender viewers and allies, this production offers a rare and affirming opportunity to see a trans woman telling her own story, on her own terms, in her own words. It is theater that reflects our lived experiences, not as stereotypes or side characters, but as full human beings with joy, struggle, humor, and strength.

Tickets are available to Lucille Lortel Theatre members now. Pre-sale begins July 30, with general ticket sales opening August 1 through TodayTix.

Mulvaney hopes this show will open the door for more trans-led productions. She has spoken about the privilege of having her platform and encourages audiences to seek out work by trans creators from all walks of life.

At a time when transgender voices are under increasing attack, The Least Problematic Woman in the World offers a moment of reflection, celebration, and resistance. It is a bold, funny, and deeply human show that reminds us why our stories matter.
